Bat Control in Southern Georgia & Northern Florida

Serving Southern Georgia & Northern Florida Since 1969

Bats are a valuable part of the Georgia-Florida ecosystem. A single bat can consume hundreds of insects in a night, which makes them natural allies against the pest pressure this region sees year-round. That ecological value doesn’t change what happens when a colony moves into your attic: guano accumulates, insulation degrades, and air quality problems compound with every passing week. Addressing a bat infestation requires a specific approach, and that’s where we come in.

Astro Exterminating Services has served homeowners and businesses across Southern Georgia and Northern Florida since 1969. As a family-owned company, we treat every property we work on the way we’d treat our own. Our bat control service focuses on exclusion rather than extermination because it’s the legal method, an effective method, and the right one.

If bats have moved into your home or business, don’t wait for the problem to grow. Call us at (229) 404-4872 to schedule a free, no-obligation inspection.

Responsive Service Built Around Your Schedule

Bat problems don’t follow a convenient timeline. We offer same-day service in many cases so you’re not left waiting while a colony settles in further. Beyond the initial response, we offer one-time treatments as well as monthly, bi-monthly, and quarterly plans, structured around what your property actually needs.

Why Exclusion Is the Right Method for Bat Control

No pesticides are registered for bat control, and trapping or poisoning bats is prohibited under both Georgia and Florida wildlife regulations. Exclusion is the accepted legal method, and it aligns directly with our Integrated Pest Management approach. IPM focuses on monitoring, targeted exclusion, and sanitation rather than broad chemical applications. For bat control, that means identifying how and where bats are entering a structure, removing the colony through one-way devices, and sealing entry points once the bats have vacated. We use environmentally responsible materials throughout the process.

How Our Bat Exclusion Process Works

Effective bat exclusion starts with a thorough inspection. We examine the structure to locate every potential entry and exit point, since bats can squeeze through gaps as small as a quarter-inch. From there, we install one-way exclusion devices at the primary access points. These devices allow bats to leave the roost at night to forage but block reentry when they return. Once the colony has fully vacated, we seal entry points to help reduce the chance of bats returning through the same openings.

Sealing too early is a common mistake. Trapping bats inside can create additional health hazards and, depending on the season, can be illegal. Our process is sequenced to avoid that outcome.

Bat Exclusion Timing & Legal Restrictions in Georgia & Florida

Both states protect all bat species, which means exclusion work must be timed carefully. Getting this right isn’t just a compliance issue. Performing exclusions during maternity season can separate flightless pups from the colony, so timing has humane stakes as well.

Georgia and Florida each have defined windows governing when exclusion devices may be used:

Florida regulations:
Florida’s bat maternity season runs April 16 through August 14. Excluding bats from a roost during that period is illegal. Exclusion devices may be used from August 15 through April 15. Work needed outside that window requires permits under the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.

Georgia regulations:
In Georgia, exclusions should generally be avoided between April 1 and July 31, when young bats may be present and flightless. Work needed during that window requires a licensed Nuisance Wildlife Control Operator permitted through the Georgia Department of Natural Resources.

We schedule all work with these windows in mind and are upfront with property owners about timing before anything begins.
